Check out Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer storyboards and concept art by Darrin Denlinger!

Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot film is coming in next year, but there's still time to look back at the last film. Darrin Denlinger very kindly let me post some of his work for the 2007 Fantastic Four sequel. Yesterday I shared some boards that showed the deleted scenes from Doctor Doom's castle and more. As promised, here's the next set of exclusive illustrations he created for the film.

Darrin Denlinger is a professional concept and storyboard artist who's worked on blockbuster movies like The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Reed and Sue Wedding
"I was hired on to FANTASTIC FOUR:RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER long before the script was ready, to work help director Tim Story brainstorm set piece ideas.  One element that was definitively going to present in the movie was the marriage of Reed Richards to Sue Storm….…and the epic chaos created by the introduction of Silver Surfer in the middle of it.  To help sell 20th Century Fox on this huge set piece, I thought it would be cool to do them as a hybrid comic book splash page/concept illustration style.  Ultimately, this sequence proved a bit ambitious for the budget and was cut down quite a bit in the final film." - Darrin Denlinger

Torch Chases Silver Surfer
"The final piece of the wedding sequence was always going to be Johnny Storm chasing down the enigmatic Silver Surfer.  It was such an iconic idea and easily the most fun I had on the movie.  The image of the Surfer carrying Torch in the low oxygen stratosphere was directly inspired by an amazing Silver Surfer illustration done by the legendary Adi Grandov." - Darrin Denlinger

Ferris Wheel Rescue
"Ultimately, Tim Story settled on the giant London Eye ferris wheel as a great location for an FF rescue effort.  These are a few pages of storyboards I did in the development of the sequence." - Darrin Denlinger

Sue and Reed Fight
"These final boards were taken from an animatic I did for the film, showing a comedic take on just what a marital tiff would look like in the Richards’ household……

I spent seven fun months on FANTASTIC FOUR:RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, all well before the project went to camera.  My forte has always been storyboards and animatics but this was a rare opportunity to produce more finished presentation work.  Less than a year later Marvel started it’s own studio and my wonderful introduction on FF:ROTSS proved invaluable in allowing me to get in on the ground floor with THE INCREDIBLE HULK.  Seven years later I’m incredibly lucky to be working on my eighth Marvel film, CAPTAIN AMERICA 3." - Darrin Denlinger
