Check out a trailer for the upcoming book Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy!
Every Friday I try and feature artwork from a classic of science fiction cinema or television. This week's "Flashback Friday" post is on the Star Wars Trilogy.
I never get tired of seeing storyboards and concept art from the Star Wars movies. But there's still so much left to see from the Lucasfilm vaults! Thankfully an upcoming book has some newly released artwork and it's amazing.
Here's the book description:
"Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy, edited by Lucasfilm's J.W. Rinzler, features the storyboards -- many never before seen -- from all three classic films.
"Coming from Abrams Books on May 13, 2014, Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy collects over 1,200 storyboards for the first time ever. As seen in this debut trailer, they were an essential part of the filmmaking process, helping visualize A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi -- including the Death Star trench run, the Battle of Hoth, and Luke Skywalker's final duel with Darth Vader and the Emperor.
"Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy features a foreword by Joe Johnston, an introduction by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, and exclusive commentary by Joe Johnston, Nilo Rodis-Jamero, Alex Tavoularis, Paul Huston, and Dave Carson."
Click on the links if you want to see more of Joe Johnston, Nilo Rodis-Jamero, Alex Tavoularis, Paul Huston, and Dave Carson's work and Star Wars on my blog.
What do you think of the storyboards? Are you looking forward to the book?
