Check out The Fifth Element(1997) concept art by Jean-Claude Mezieres!
In 1991, director Luc Besson approached Mézières to work on designs for his science fiction film called Zaltman Bléros. Besson was a huge fan of his science fiction comic series Valérian and Laureline. The project stalled and Mezieres and his old friend Jean "Mobeius" Giraud were inspired by the designs of flying taxis and New York to develop an album named The Circles of Power about a taxi driver, named S'Traks, who drove a flying taxi around a great metropolis on the planet Rubanis. The album was sent to Besson and when he returned to work on the newly renamed The Fifth Element discovered that elements of his album had been incorporated into the film. Mézières produced more designs for the film for taxis, spaceships and sets including the Fhloston Paradise liner.
Jean-Claude Mezieres is a professional French comic strip artist and illustrator who's worked on films like L'Histoire de la page 52 (2013) and The Fifth Element (1997).
